April, 2013

And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.  Matthew 28:20

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Happy Easter; I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.  If you were unable to attend our Living Stations, you missed a wonderful and moving performance. There are only six more weeks of school--unbelievable.  However, these six weeks are going to be incredibly busy.

First of all, if you have helped with the grooming of Nature's Place, thank you.  Right now it looks gorgeous with all the flowering trees and spring flowers.  The students have been planting in their class boxes and using the grounds for various learning and fun experiences.  We are so glad that the weather is finally allowing us to get out there.

Next week the eighth graders will be going to Washington, and I will be going with them.  I understand that the Cherry Blossoms are just beginning to bloom; so, we may be fortunate enough to witness these beautiful trees at the height of their season.  Keep us in your prayers for a safe trip.

One of the biggest events and most popular traditions of OLPH is Grandparents' Day.  This will be taking place on April 26th.  All of the grandparents should have gotten invitations by now.  If we missed your child's grandparent/s, give us a call so we can remedy it.  This day is always wonderful, and we always have a packed house.  Because we want all of our grandparent guests to be comfortably seated and have enough to eat, we ask that reservations are made--this is important.  We also ask that parents of the students do not accompany them unless the grandparent needs assistance.  I wish we had a larger space to accommodate more people, but we don't.  So, thank you for your understanding.

Congratulations to our second graders.  They will be making their first communion on Saturday, April 27.  Please keep them in your prayers.

After many requests from parents, we have arranged to have Spanish offered as an after school enrichment.  There is a meeting on Wednesday, April 10, 2:30 in Mrs. Morrison's room with the instructor.  Mrs. Mantel is coordinating this, and you may reach her at mmantel@catholicweb.com.  Also, there are some summer camp offerings at OLPH this year.  You will find the information attached to this letter.  Mrs. Danielson is coordinating this, and you may reach her at edanielson@catholicweb.com.

 Other happenings this month are:
